The meet and greet is crucial to finding the right match for your pet care needs. With KC PetNanny you are not limited to one meet and greet, we offer more than one because we know that your pet may need extra time to get to know us and be comfortable. I want my clients and their pets to feel comfortable with me caring for their family member. I do house sitting/pet sitting and pet lodging in my home. Some dogs feel more comfortable staying in their own home and some pet owners want someone to look after their home while they are gone. On the other hand, some dogs adjust to change more easily and they come stay with me in my home. So meet and greets vary. I start off with the initial meet and greet to meet the pet and pet parent/parents. This is a good time to see if it’s a good fit all around, including for me. I always ask, “Tell me about your pet’s typical day.” This gives me insight to the personality of the pet. Are they walkers? Do they prefer outdoor playtime like fetch? Do they just like to snuggle? Basically, what’s their favorite type of exercise? What is their “taking care of business” routine? Feeding routine. Their sleeping routine. So much to learn in just one meet and greet. That’s why I do not limit it to just one meet and greet! 

I have went on walking dates with my clients! I have gone to their homes, they have come to mine. The pets have come for play dates with me. This is where their parents drop them off for 2-3 hours and we have a good time and then their parents return and pick them up. This gives the pets reassurance that they are not being abandoned. I find this very comforting to the pets, especially if they have separation anxiety. Others just require just one meet and greet and we’re ready to go. Everyone is unique!
